Did I waste my time in military service?
I retired from what I thought was a rewarding and successful military career in January. During my 22 years of service I gained a wide range of experience and training maintaining and operating some of the most advanced aircraft the US has to offer. I managed, supervised, and led organizations that were recognized for achieving top results and always earned high performance appraisals. I took advantage of every educational opportunity available and earned my MBA before retiring. I’ve networked, applied, called, informational interviewed, attended conferences, all to no avail. I have even had an individual tell me that most employers would not want to hire me because I have too much experience and education. What gives!! What does it take anymore to find a decent job? Did I waste my time in the military?? I realize the state of the economy, but obviously I’m doing something wrong. Any advice???
Maybe tone down your resume. The military makes you excel to the top, which apparently you did. It sounds like you need to present yourself as a little more well rounded. You didn’t waste your time, I wish I could have done the cool things you got to do…
