successful way to go
What’s was your successful way of housebreaking your pup? PLZ HELP FAST!?
I have 2 dogs one is 8 mos the other is about to turn 5. I’m having such a hard time potty training the 8 mo old girl. She thinks my living room is her potty rm!!! I’ve been training her since July. She knows how to go outside but how to I get her to ONLY go outside. I didn’t have this much trouble with the first dog. Can you guys plz gimmie ideas…I’m running out of them now and getting so frustrated to the point I’m considering giving her up. I really would like to keep her so all ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
Things I have tried:
-Crate
-Baby gate keeping her in the kitchen (she learned how to hop over the gate)
-Leash…keep it on her at all times to yank her up to go outside in case I catch her in an act.
-Rubbing her nose in it
I live an an apt. complex and she’s ruining the carpet!!!!! I hope to move sometime next year and want her to have it down so I can trust her in a new place (new carpet).
Schedules. Crate training helps, you still need to bring them out. It encourages them not to go, but their bladders can only hold it for so long! And when they are out of the crate, watch them. The crate is for when you can’t supervise them, when you can supervise they need to be out of the crate. Keep them near you and bring them outside if they look like they are going to go. Corrections after the fact are useless, since they will not connect it to going to the bathroom. Rubbing their nose in it is mean and useless.
Keep at it, be 100% consistent, and don’t expect miracles!
